Aware Super is an Australian superannuation fund, open to everyone, serving employers and their staff across all states and territories, and an employer can nominate it as the default fund for employees who have not chosen a fund and have no stapled fund.

  • Online employer registration using an ABN and an email address, returning an insurance rating and a Fund Employer Number by email.
  • Future Saver accounts opened for new employees from their first contribution, matching to an existing account where the employee already has one.
  • Contributions paid through the SuperStream compliant Aware Super Clearing House, provided via SuperChoice, for employees at any super fund subject to eligibility, with an Employer Portal for searching employees and managing users.
  • Employer-sponsored insurance inside a Future Saver account, with an insurance category set from the general nature of the work employees do and the option for an employee to apply for a category matching their own occupation.

Best for: employers choosing a default superannuation fund and wanting registration, contribution submission and employee account set-up handled in one place.

What happens when an employer makes Aware Super its default fund?

Registration is completed online with an ABN and an email address, and the fund emails back an insurance rating and a Fund Employer Number. Future Saver accounts are then opened for new employees from their first contribution, and team members may be eligible for automatic cover for death, terminal illness and total permanent disablement within that account.

How are superannuation contributions submitted to Aware Super?

Through the SuperStream compliant Aware Super Clearing House, provided via SuperChoice, which covers employees at any super fund subject to eligibility, or through the Employer Portal. The fund ABN is 53 226 460 365 and the USI for super accounts is 53 226 460 365 001.

What support does Aware Super give employers on their superannuation obligations?

An employer support team answers a dedicated line Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm AEST/AEDT, and the employer tools and learning section covers payment due dates, the Payday Super requirements in force from 1 July 2026, a Payday Super checklist and employer FAQs. A Learn Hub of superannuation and retirement content is available for staff.
