Health Workforce Queensland

Health Workforce Queensland provides Permanent Recruitment of primary health professionals for remote, rural, regional and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Queensland, drawing on more than 25 years responding to rural health workforce challenges.

• Recruits across General Practitioner, Allied Health and Nursing disciplines, connecting Queensland communities with clinicians via dedicated recruitment channels and the latest vacancy listings.
• In the 2025-26 financial year to date, placed 15 clinicians in remote and rural communities in need and supported a further 129 clinicians through HWQ programs and continuing professional development workshops.
• Operates as a not-for-profit, non-government Rural Workforce Agency, part of the seven-member Rural Workforce Agency Network established in 2017 and supported by the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.
• Complements recruitment with practice support, vacancy management and student engagement programs such as GROW Rural and Going Rural to build a longer term pipeline of rural clinicians.

• Pairs planning work with practice support and vacancy management so identified gaps can be matched to recruitment, locum placement or scholarship pathways.
• Backed by more than 25 years of experience with rural and remote Queensland health workforce challenges as a Rural Workforce Agency Network member.
